This website is developed and maintained by Collective Shift, a nonprofit organization that includes, but is not limited to, projects such as LRNG, Cities of LRNG, GlassLab, and the Badge Alliance (hereinafter “Collective Shift,” “we” or “us”). When you visit our website, mobile app, or other online properties, collectively “sites,” Collective Shift may collect and use certain information about you. Collective Shift recognizes that you care about how your information is used, and your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we may collect and use your information, particularly your personal information, and the choices you can make about what information you share.

This Privacy Policy applies only to our sites, and covers only information collected in connection with your access and use of our sites. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By continuing to interact with our sites, you are agreeing to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We ask that you read this Privacy Policy from time to time. Collective Shift may modify this Privacy Policy at any time in its sole discretion. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy that increase our rights to use personal information we have previously collected about you, we will obtain your consent either through an email to your registered email address or by prominent posting on our sites.

Where Collective Shift has entered into agreements with third party organizations to provide access to our sites and services (a “Partner” or “Partners”), and those Partners create accounts on behalf of users (“Partner Accounts”), we will notify the primary contact at the Partner to obtain consent prior to implementing any material changes to this Privacy Policy that increase our rights to use personal information we have previously collected in connection with Partner Accounts.

What Information Does Collective Shift Collect About You?

Collective Shift collects information about you when you interact with our sites.

For accounts created by a Partner, as well as each Partner’s own account, we collect information provided to us by such Partner as set forth in our Terms of Use and the specific agreement with such Partner.

For accounts created directly with us (“Collective Shift User Accounts”), we collect information you provide to us including, but not limited to, your name, email address, phone number, photographs, and birthday.

Once an account has been created, we also collect information related to the activities users engage in on the sites, such as audio, video, text, photographs, or other materials, including so-called “user- generated content” and “feedback” (collectively, “User Submissions”) and progress towards and achievement of badges.

In addition, we may automatically collect information about the devices you use to interact with our sites. The information we automatically collect may include your IP address, device identifier, web browser type and version, and browsing information including date and time of browsing. Collective Shift may also automatically collect information about how you use our sites, such as what you have searched for and viewed with our sites.

Collective Shift sites do not collect personal information about your online activities over time and across third-party websites or online services. Therefore, “do not track” signals transmitted from web browsers do not apply to our sites, and we do not alter any of our data collection and use practices upon receipt of such a signal.

How Does Collective Shift Protect Children’s Privacy?

Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to access our site or create an account. If we obtain actual knowledge that any information we collect directly from or about a user age 13 or younger has not been provided in compliance with these terms, we will promptly delete that information.

How Does Collective Shift Use The Information Collected About You?

Collective Shift may use the information it collected about you for a number of purposes, including:

  • To serve the functions of our sites
  • To manage Collective Shift’s everyday business needs, such as administration and improvement of this application;
  • To serve promotions of community programs that might be of interest to youth;
  • To analyze our sites’ performance and functioning;
  • To study how our users use our sites and to perform other user research;
  • To prevent fraud, to enforce Collective Shift’s Terms of Use, to comply with all applicable laws, and to enforce Collective Shift’s agreements; and
  • To offer you information and promotional material about the products and services you see on our sites.
  • To measure the effectiveness of Collective Shift’s platform and program against its mission and goals.

Collective Shift may also provide certain information to Partner Organizations you choose to affiliate with during your registration. By choosing to affiliate with a Partner Organization, you are: (i) confirming that you have given your consent and permission to that Partner Organization to use any information you provide to us in connection with your registration or use of the sites, Services or Content and (ii) authorizing us to share with that Partner Organization with any information you provide to us in connection with your registration or use of the sites, Services or Content. If you do not want anyone else to receive any information you provide to us in connection with your registration or use of the sites, Services or Content, you should not affiliate with any Partner Organization.

Collective Shift may also provide to third parties, including other businesses and members of the public, aggregated statistical data showing general usage patterns and statistics about our sites, interactions, and transactions. This data does not personally identify you or provide specific information about individual usage.

When does Collective Shift Share Your Personal Information?

Collective Shift may share your information with third parties, including law enforcement authorities, where Collective Shift determines that doing so is appropriate to:

  • Enforce its Terms of Use;
  • Protect Collective Shift’s property, services and legal rights;
  • Prevent physical harm to the persons or property of others;
  • Prevent fraud against Collective Shift and others;
  • Support auditing, compliance, and corporate governance functions;
  • Comply with subpoenas, court orders, or similar legal processes, including to law enforcement agencies, regulators and courts;
  • Comply with any and all applicable laws.

In some cases, Collective Shift enters into agreements with Partners. Under these agreements, the Partners create Partner Accounts on behalf of users and retain ownership of the information provided to us. By choosing to affiliate with that Partner Account during registration, you are: (i) confirming that you have given your consent and permission to that Partner to use any information you provide to us in connection with your registration or use of the sites, Services or Content and (ii) authorizing us to share with that Partner any information you provide to us in connection with your registration or use of the sites, Services or Content. If you do not want anyone else to receive any information you provide to us in connection with your registration or use of the sites, Services or Content, you should not affiliate with any Partner. If you choose to affiliate with more than one Partner, then your information may be shared with all of the Partners you choose to affiliate with.

In limited situations, we may provide information about you that may personally identify you to our measurement and analytics partners, service providers, and other organizations who globally support our mission in order to help us understand our users, measure the effectiveness of our service, analyze how our Services are used, or conduct academic research and surveys. These partners, service providers and other organizations must adhere to strict confidentiality obligations that are consistent with this Privacy Policy and the agreements we enter into with them.

What Does Collective Shift Do With Your Social Network Account Data?

Our sites may allow you to create a Collective Shift User Account by signing into and associating your social network accounts (“Social Media Sites”) including, but not limited to, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Tumblr with Collective Shift.

By using this functionality, you give Collective Shift permission to access all of the elements of your profile information that you have made available to be shared and to use it in accordance with the Social Media Site’s terms of use and this Privacy Policy. Your settings may enable Collective Shift to retrieve information from your account on the Social Media Site, such as your username, the date and time you sent messages using this application, and the contents of any such messages. Please refer to the privacy settings of the applicable Social Media Site for information about what data is shared with Collective Shift and other connected applications and to manage the data that is shared through your account, including information about your activities using our sites. If you would like to disconnect an account with a Social Media Site from Collective Shift, refer to the settings of that Social Media Site account and its provider.

How Does Collective Shift Use Cookies?

When you use our sites, Collective Shift may place pieces of code, commonly referred to as “cookies,” or similar technology on your devices. Collective Shift uses cookies to collect information about how you use this website. Certain browsers may allow you to disable such cookies. However, disabling cookies from Collective Shift may prevent you from using various features of this website.

Third Parties

When you use our sites, third-parties may use cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect information about how you use the site and which web pages you visit. These third parties may collect, and share with us at our request, website usage information about visits to our sites that can be used to measure and research the effectiveness of sites. These third parties also may collect information, potentially including personal information, about your activities over time and across different websites.

This site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected from you by those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of each site that collects information from you.

Notice to Residents of Countries outside the United States of America

If you live outside the United States (including in the European Economic Area (“EE”) and Switzerland (“CH”) collectively the “EEA/CH”), and you use our sites or provide us with personal information directly via the site, your information will be handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy. How Does Collective Shift Protect My Information?

Collective Shift has implemented an information security program that contains administrative, technical and physical controls that are designed to reasonably safeguard information that can individually identify you.

Collect Shift User Account holders can review, modify, and delete certain information related to your use of our sites by accessing your Collective Shift User Account. You can unsubscribe to email, text, or other messages in your account settings or by following the instructions contained within the message. You can also ask us to update your information by contacting us at support@lrng.org.

Partner Account holders should contact their Partner to review, modify, and request deletion of their accounts.

Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident under the age of 18, and a registered user of any site where this policy is posted, California Business and Professions Code Section 22581 permits you to request and obtain removal of content or information you have publicly posted. To make such a request, please send an email with a detailed description of the specific content or information to privacy@collectiveshift.org. Please be aware that such a request does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal of the content or information you have posted and that there may be circumstances in which the law does not require or allow removal even if requested.

Business Transfers and Corporate Changes

We reserve the right to disclose and transfer all information related to the sites, including personal information associated with Collective Shift User Accounts:

to a subsequent owner, co-owner or operator of one or more of the sites; or

in connection with a corporate merger, consolidation, or restructuring, the sale of substantially all of our stock and/or assets, or other corporate change, including, without limitation, during the course of any due diligence process.
